Revival SA: Our history

Updated: Oct 20, 2019

In 1996, two years after founding Pray SA, Pastor Rod Denton invited intercessory leader, Jenny Hagger, to raise up a city-wide monthly prayer meeting involving intercessors from all denominations.

Revival SA welcomes Christian worshippers, prayer warriors and intercessors from across all churches, praying for revival in Adelaide, South Australia and Australia.

For the following nine years, over two hundred intercessors representing eighty different churches met to worship and intercede. There were powerful moves of the Holy Spirit that brought a change in the spiritual atmosphere of our city and State.

In 2005, the pastoral leadership of Pray SA felt that the time of holding Pastors Prayer Summits had ended, and the movement was closed down. As a result, the Pray SA monthly prayer meetings were also discontinued

However, over the next five years, it became evident that some battles previously won in our city were being lost, and that spiritual opposition was gaining a foothold. Politicians reported that attempts to uphold righteous legislation were being weakened. Concern was raised by others that the city needed a new united prayer movement.

As a result, Revival SA was birthed on the first Saturday in April 2011, when Jenny Hagger felt the leading of the Lord to recall the intercessors as watchmen on the walls for our city and State.

Revival SA meetings are not structured but are open to the leading of the Holy Spirit, resulting in no two meetings being alike. There are times of intimate worship, silence in the presence of the Lord, warfare praise, powerful decrees and declarations in prayer, and teaching and equipping by local and international prayer leaders.
